This new catamaran is an absolute premium product with fascinating modern design, comfortable sea swells behavior and advanced technology. In 2018, it is going to replace the popular “Halunder Jet” operating from Hamburg via Wedel and Cuxhaven to Heligoland. The new ship with its length of 56.4 meters was specially designed for the transfer to Heligoland and can carry up to 680 passengers. Guests will appreciate the spacious free decks as well as the high comfort standard on board. In all three seating categories, our friendly service staff will take care of you right at your seat while the ship passes Hamburg, Wedel, Cuxhaven and finally arrives on Germany’s only high seas island. Even with swell and a maximum speed of 35kn (approximately 65 km/h), you will experience a very comfortable and fast maritime boat ride on the open North Sea due to our very modern damping system.

Heligoland Ahoy! New, superior-quality sailing experience

The work took just over a year, the big day is finally here: the successor to the Halunder Jet is ready. Around 250 shipyard employees and 60 employees from Förde Reederei Seetouristik worked on the catamaran in the AUSTAL shipyard in Cebu. After 15 years of loyal service, we finally said goodbye to the old Halunder Jet in the fall of 2017. It was hauled to the west coast of America, where, as the Clipper V, it will carry traffic between Seattle in the USA and Victoria on Vancouver Island (Canada).

The new catamaran sets new standards, in particular when it comes to comfort: wider seats, more legroom and, above all, an even better view. The captivating interior was designed by Australian design office Spear Green. Its bright and friendly atmosphere invites visitors to linger. Nine panoramic windows, a 4-zone air-conditioning system, several flat screens and a roughly 200 m2 open-air deck ensure that our Heligoland fans will enjoy an even more modern and comfortable trip in future – indeed, for many their arrival on board becomes the vacation.

Measuring 56 meters in length, the new vessel can accommodate around 680 Heligoland lovers – 20% more than before. Four MTU engines (type: 16V4000M63L), four auxiliary generators (type: Volvo D5A TA) and four Kamewa S71 waterjets propel the catamaran to a maximum speed of 36 knots (67 km/h).

Comfort is our top priority. We therefore offer our guests even more space, even more legroom and even more Heligoland experience in a total of three seat categories. The seats themselves are considerably wider in all three categories and are equipped with a USB connection so you can charge your mobile devices at any time.

Our Premium Class (formerly Comfort Class) is located on the front top deck in a separate salon. Here you can enjoy an outstanding view and superior comfort thanks to the large panoramic windows and generously sized seats, all of which come with a table. Non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks, fresh fruit and a selection of daily newspapers are available free of charge. A VIP balcony is also available for your use. From there, you can exclusively enjoy the unique vista.

The new Panorama Class (formerly Premium Jet Class) extends across the window seats and the first rows in the front main deck. Here you can enjoy superior quality, even more comfort and a first-class view outside.

The traditional Jet Class is located in the interior of the main and upper deck. Here also the seats are wider and more comfortable than on the old Halunder Jet. You can choose between seats facing in the direction of travel and groups of seats with tables, where you can spend the almost four-hour journey pleasantly with friends or family. Enjoy the trip together and experience the very best in comfort.

Everyone’s on board with us!

We want our guests to feel at home. Passengers with limited mobility will also be able to use and experience every area of the new ship. When building the new Heligoland catamaran, we also gave a great deal of thought to comfort.

And comfort begins while we are still on land: the gangways to the new Heligoland catamaran are considerably wider (90 centimeters wide) and designed in such a way that they can be easily negotiated with buggies, wheelchairs and other aids.

On board, an integrated lift is easily accessed and it transports passengers comfortably from one deck to another. Each deck is also equipped with a disabled toilet.

Our Jet Class and Premium Class areas have 28 special seats with movable armrests, making it easier for our passengers to sit down and stand up.

We have also increased the number of wheelchair places: wheelchairs can be secured quite easily to the ground in a total of ten locations, which means that our passengers can remain seated comfortably.
